Since our son was 2 months old, we have experienced a series of hospital visits throughout his 2 years. He has had bronchitis , which he has been hospitalized twice. He has had coupe, RSV and been put on breathing steroids and medication.
Both of our children were born at home and came into this world so naturally and pure, and so it was so heartbreaking to have to wake up every two hours to give him medication that would speed up his heart and back up his bowels. When the hospital bills were adding up to over $500 a month, we finally said, “Enough already!”
We had heard about Skye through a massage therapist and called her. Ma’a came with a runny nose and congested chest, which had been the norm for the past weeks. I came in basically pleading to help me with his breathing. What amazed me was that it wasn’t just his respiratory system, but he had a heart imbalance, toxins, parasites and even a little mold, which was so amazing to me because every X-ray we had done they always told us they could see, “something” but couldn’t identify it. Although the medications were keeping him alive, they were also making him more sick. I too, had a part in Ma’as poor health in the foods I thought were “healthy.” But I learned that day with Skye that each person has different diet needs and I was feeding Ma’a the things that weren’t beneficial for him.
After one visit with Skye, Ma’a was a completely different child! I know it seems strange, but his nose and lungs cleared up, he has been regular with healthy stools, focuses more, and actually sits and relaxes when he eats. We have completely changed his diet and when he eats now, it’s like he knows that what we are feeding him isn’t for “treats” or for “convenience,” we are feeding him food that makes him feel good and heal himself. He loves his supplements and vitamins, and no they don’t have corn syrup in them, but I know he loves how he feels after he gets them. He literally runs to me when I say “VITAMIN TIME.”
It seems like the easiest scapegoat to a healthier lifestyle is to say, “It’s too expensive.” We are in “tough times” and most local families like us shy away from stores like Whole Foods, Down to Earth, & Mana. But our Polynesian people always end paying in the end with families battling obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, and overall health. We are learning that making the time to plan ahead, allows us to change our ideals of food and not break the bank. The doctor bills were breaking our bank and putting a loophole on our child (temporary relief, but long term problems.) But we think that is a thing of the past.
Our ancestors were natural healers, we need to remember that. I know this is a lot, but I want to lastly say that Skye is amazing. She is so intuitive, and respectful of our situation and goals. I think it is such a blessing to have her in our lives at this time. We are doing her program now as a family and are so excited to see our progress and not just for a short term, but for the rest of our lives.”
